Sandra Gidley MP goes Red for Comic Relief

One of Norwich Union Healthcare's largest call centres located in Eastleigh will be converted into a pledge line this Friday night for Comic Relief.

Over 100 employees will spend the evening taking pledges for Comic Relief. In 2005 Norwich Union Healthcare took over 5000 calls raising £130,000 for the charity. The aim this year is to smash this record!

The theme for the night is 'The Big One', all the teams of call handlers will be bigging it up on the night, wearing the most outrageous and oversized accessories they can find, and of course the redder the better! There will be a number of games, raffles and competitions to keep all the volunteers entertained throughout the night.

Local MP Sandra Gidley will be coming along on the night to take some calls. Sandra said, "I am delighted to be taking part in such a fantastic event. In the past my involvement has been limited to watching, donating and making red nose cookies so I thought it would be nice to make a difference by being part of the operations on the night and joining with other volunteers" I am always overwhelmed by people's generosity and ingenuity in raising money for Comic Relief. The only remaining question is what to wear, red isn't usually my colour being a red head!"

As well the call centre in the evening, employees will be fundraising throughout the day for Comic Relief. There are 'big cake' sales, fancy dress competitions, book sales, quizzes, as well as a huge tombola to raise money.
