MP PRAISES 'HEROIC' AMBULANCE SERVICE

12.00.00am GMT Tue 12th Feb 2008

Local MP, Sandra Gidley, has been out and about with the local Ambulance Service to see first-hand what life is like for our local paramedics.

Mrs Gidley, who is also the Lib Dem Shadow Health Minister, joined John and Kate as they dealt with 999 calls across the county on Friday on a ten hour shift.

Sandra said:

"The people of Hampshire owe a great debt to their local ambulance crews and the paramedics who do a great job every day. They literally play a lifesaving role and it is great to see here, first hand, their phenomenal commitment to the service they provide for local people."

Sandra witnessed the paramedics attend a major road-traffic accident on the M3 where she was impressed by their professionalism.

"I was amazed how quickly and calmly John and Kate acted. It should be reassuring to everyone locally that we have such dedicated and professional front line ambulance staff.

"To me - paramedics are unsung heroes of the public sector."
