"ENSURE PRESERVATION OF OUR HERITAGE IS NOT A LOTTERY" - GIDLEY

12.39.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 10th Apr 2008

Local MP Sandra Gidley today encouraged community and voluntary groups to apply for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to preserve their local heritage.

Sandra recently met with Sheena Vick, HLF Regional Manager for South East England, and both are keen to encourage more groups in the Romsey and Southampton area to apply for grants and preserve their heritage.

Sandra said:

"Preserving our history is hugely important in celebrating who we are.

"The Heritage Lottery Fund has already funded many projects in our local area, including the restoration of Broughton Well House.

"I would urge any local group keen to preserve their heritage to apply for a grant, and ensure that our local treasures are restored and protected."
