At the General Election in Romsey on 5th May 2005, 50311 votes were cast (approximately 70% of the total number of eligible voters) with the following result:

Sandra Gidley (Liberal Democrat): 22465 votes (-2.3%).

Caroline Nokes (Conservative): 22340 votes (+2.3%).

Matthew Stevens (Labour): 4430 votes (+0.6%).

Michael Wigley (UK Independence Party): 1076 votes (+0.6%).
